How does the Bible clarify nutritional truth?  Holistically.  From Genesis to Revelation… the message of food in the Bible shows us who God is… It’s one of REVELATION.  Nutrition is part of the library of evidence to God’s design, intention, purpose.  But Cursed Nutrition revealed that God’s  “good” design became corrupted.  That corruption of unbelief and disobedience resulted in the ground – our very source of physical life – being cursed or CUT OFF from the continual regeneration process.  REGENERATION was God’s first purpose for food in seed bearing plants (Gen. 1:29)

What happens when a plant gets pruned from the vine or a rose is trimmed from the bush?  It immediately starts to degenerate.  Man was CUT OFF from the Tree of Life… from the Garden.  In human history there was a time when degeneration was a slow process.  Mankind lived hundreds of years.  It’s during this time in history that God still walked and talked with men.  (Genesis 4 & 5) The word  Hebrew word for “walk” used in these early chapters is “halak” and it means… to go to and fro, be transient, but it also implies conversation… “to be conversant along the way”.  God’s physical presence is felt and heard on the earth with men even after the fall.   Man no longer had access to the regeneration of the tree of life. They no longer had “free food” from the ground, they now had to work for it.  But God was not removed. Nor was He silent.

God talked with Cain in his desperation. Enoch walked with God. Noah walked with God. So what changed exactly?  God walked with Adam and Eve in the perfect garden in the cool of the evening… and He still walks with man immediately after the Fall.   How is this possible if sin separates and initiates physical degeneration?

There was a COVERING provided…

“The Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.” Gen. 3:21  There was an immediate COVERING.  The very next generation we find Abel (son of Adam) a “keeper of sheep”.  Unless they use a ton of wool in the ancient middle east … Mankind was eating meat from the time of the fall.  God has provided both external and internal way of staying connected to Him.  DEATH to LIFE is now required.   We also see Noah taking “clean and unclean” animals onto the ark pre-flood.  He offers sacrifices after the flood.   When did God indicate what clean and unclean animals were? When did He instruct on sacrifices and offerings.  We aren’t told pre-flood.   The food instructions AFTER the flood also imply animals were already being eaten.  Now… “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you…” We’ll take a look at Global Nutrition (Great Flood timeframe in history) in another post coming soon!   Physical nourishment from the physical sacrifices is always linked in Scripture.  Because the covering is needed OVER us or OVER our sin and the covering is needed IN us.  It’s being IN Him that there is life.  That life is a result of death.

What’s the nutrition connection?  This idea of being IN… of DYING IN…  that is the connection.

ALL LIVING FOODS have gone through a DYING PROCESS…

Seeds must sprout or germinate (or degenerate away) in order for new life to come.  What are living foods?   Any food that has active enzymes and absorbable nutrients.  We can use the nutrition from that food… nothing is blocked or inhibited.  There are no empty calories…. or units of heat without any nourishment.  The nutrients can function in the body.  THAT is a living food.   In order for plant foods to be truly living… they must die first.  That dying process takes place IN something.  Also, animal foods that take in the living plant foods…then humans take IN the food and nourishment both provide.

Plant food nutrition “dies” – degenerates or breaks down – by:

  • Sprouting
  • Germinating
  • Souring
  • Soaking
  • Fermenting / Culturing
See the source image

This process of dying takes place IN:

  • Water
  • Soil
  • Bacteria culture

When we take raw plant food – living by the dying process of seed germination – it has – depending on the soil quality – a certain level of nutrients, it has active enzymes that help us breakdown those nutrients.   But when you take that same raw plant food and put it through a “2nd death” of fermenting or culturing by placing it IN water and sea salt or active bacteria culture (a historical and scientifically significant tradition of preserving foods) the nutrients MULTIPLY.

Death to life nutrition from animal foods means their meat is nourishing… IF they are also eating those LIVING PLANT foods.    Cattle are designed to eat grass for example.   They have four stomachs.  The purpose of which is for fermenting the grasses providing death to life nutrition.   Grass fed meats are “living,” their nutrients are bioavailable, they have antioxidants and vitamins and minerals that we can use!    The animal products of milk and eggs, butter and organ meats are healthy IF the animals have eaten the LIVING PLANTS along the food chain and their nutrients have not been processed or denatured.   Cultured dairy foods like kefir, yogurt, sour cream, buttermilk, even cultured butter are healing foods.   The good bacterias predigest the proteins, eat the lactose sugars and put enzymes and nutrients and healthy bacteria back into the food for us to thrive!!  Animal foods can be living foods!

BECAUSE we have DIED IN CHRIST

We die physically.  That’s a scientific fact. That’s a Bible fact.  But if we die again by faith in the finished work of Christ… placing our life IN Christ… our life multiplies.  We have an everlasting life.   Through faith… based on belief… based on evidence… we “reckon or consider ourselves dead to sin, but alive to God IN Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom 6:11

“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ IN God.” Col. 3:3

“If anyone is IN Christ, he is a new creation.  The old things have passed away. Behold all things have become new.”  IICor. 5:17

“For you are complete IN Him…” Col. 2:10

True nutrition science revealed there is bad news…  But true nutrition science also reveals the good news…

DEATH TO LIFE plant nutrition IN water, soil or bacteria culture is God’s provision for us physically in both plant and animal foods.

DEATH TO LIFE Salvation IN the LIVING WATER of Jesus is God’s provision for us spiritually.
