For today… I wanted to share a summary of the TOP TEN REASONS Scripture Does Not Support Veganism:
#1. Of the seven food instructions given throughout Scripture – only ONE is vegan. (Genesis 1:29 – Garden Nutrition)
#2. All the meals that God Himself provided supernaturally throughout Scripture include: MEAT + BREAD
#3. The Top Six most mentioned Food Words in Scripture mirror the Six Nutrients with the 3rd most used food word in Scripture = MEAT
#4. The word VEGETABLE is not even mentioned 1x in Scripture in the English translation. However, pulses, herbs, specific vegetables like onions, leeks, tubers are mentioned, but the actual word vegetable is not in the concordance of the English translation.
#5. The entire Old Testament Law food instruction is based on CLEAN ANIMALS surrounding the sacrificial system that covers the majority of the books of the Bible (42 of the 66)
#6. We are not in the Garden of Eden anymore. The CURSE OF THE GROUND changed everything; including the food system.
#7. The DANIEL DIET was a miracle, not a model.
#8. Jesus Himself is called the LAMB OF GOD, and we are exhorted to “eat of His flesh, and drink of His blood.”
#9. FOOD FREEDOM of the church age written about by Paul – “Food does not commend us to God”, “all meat is clean”, eating meat offered to idols is based on conscience, not divine directive. Avoid eating the blood.
#10. There is never a command, exhortation or teaching in Scripture to go back to the food instruction of GENESIS 1:29.

While plant foods are certainly healthy, and many plant foods are mentioned as stables in the Biblical narrative; the overwhelming message of food in the Bible does not support eating ONLY plants. We’ll see in Part 2-4 of this article series that Scripture is also supported by nutrition science, history and health evidence as well.
